Living the best you know how to
The only life you know to live
One day you get up
And never go home
This is the true cost
Regardless of the backstory
Or the backstory to the backstory
All the way back to the origin
The cost was people
The cost was life
The cost was not worth whatever was trying to be achieved
Regardless of governments
Power, influence & control
Proxy wars, guerrilla conflicts
Wars for profit and gain, to control the narrative
The cost was people
The cost was life
The cost was not worth whatever was trying to be achieved
Unwavering belief, faith
You are right, they are wrong
There is no doubt
Yet of course, both are wrong
The cost was people, who were just living the best they knew how to
The cost was life, the only life their origin story gave them to live
The cost was not worth whatever was trying to be achieved
The cost was a loss of innocence and an interminable churn
When will our species ever learn and begin to change?
If you value your ideals over the lives of others
Are your ideals really worth valuing?
I am one of those people who believe that if I say I believe something, if I stand for something, it is worth fighting for. But I have never believed that it is worth the life of myself or of others. I believe that you must believe and fight within reason. And what happened on this day in history, what happens damn near every day in history, is not within reason.
