We Take Things For Granted

We take things for granted

And so we should

Is that not, at least partially, the point in freedom?

Otherwise we could spent every waking moment

Wracked in agony

Crying at the things that have gone before us

Look at the things going on right now

Surely every word uttered

Would be one of mourning or regret or sadness

My eternal gratitude is there for those who have sacrificed

Recently, before I was born, before my parents were born

That such sacrifices are necessary saddens and sickens me

So occasionally I take my freedom for granted, consciously

Otherwise, I would be paralyzed by remorse

And your sacrifice would have been for naught
