Sometimes I Miss the City

Sometimes I miss the city

I miss feeling like I belong

Not lost in a sprawling mass of muddled towns

But part of something identifiable

Sometimes I miss walking to the store

Stumbling home from the pub

Maybe catching a train

Or riding the bus with stinky people

Most days though, I prefer the country

I enjoy the quiet, I like seeing stars

I like feeling safe, I like saying hello

I like being the limey cowboy I was born to be

  1. I know exactly what you feel—well except for being a “limey cowboy” . I was a Yankee they allowed over the Texas border for a while. ๐Ÿ™‚ I miss it sometimes.

    1. It was / is quite the transition, 11.5 years in Texas, it is certainly home now. There are only 2 things I don’t like about the place, #1 August & #2 the ridiculous size of the place ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I lived there for 6 years and I can agree with you 100% on August and the size! ๐Ÿ™‚ I think the biggest culture shock for me was the Stockyards! Nothing quite like that in New England! ๐Ÿ™‚ One of my favorite places to go though.

  2. “Limey cowboy!” Yeee Hawwww! I moved from the city as well. Don’t miss it very much…too much beauty around! Just bloom where you are planted, I always say! Blessings to you, Chris!! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thank you very much, blessings to you too! We are fortunate to be close to the city, but live in the country, its a best of both worlds scenario. I will always miss my home town though – just not enough to move back ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. ok, Limey! lololol ok, sorry, you probably should not have let that out of the bag. ๐Ÿ˜€
