Your history does not determine your future

It follows, at a distance

Stalking, preying

Waiting for the perfect moment to pounce

To reap its wicked vengeance

Sometimes you run

Sometimes you hide

Sometimes you ignore

We pretend that you are not there, lurking

Then one day, an awful, yet great day

Enough is enough

A breaking point is reached

One day you choose to turn

The confrontation fierce

The battle brutal

Scars will be left,

Wounds deepened, but cleaned

Then, with the power of One who is greater than you

Forgiveness shared and freedom is won,

And from that moment on

Your history, does not determine your future
